Écoutez, Ma Sœur or Listen, My Sister is a small art/craft collective. We are Jennifer, Violet and Maya, and we make interesting and beautiful objects with all kinds of materials, as well as prints of our art work. We primarily use recycled materials and our prints are archival quality. This is where we sell online. We also add others from time to time - people who's work we have seen and loved, and who we want to support. The majority of what we do made to order or limited print runs.
Jennifer Brant is an multi-media artist who divides her time between the city and her off-the-grid homestead on a small island. She conceived of Écoutez, Ma Sœur as a way of showcasing work and supporting artist friends. She has a BFA and B.ED and feels blessed to have found her way to full-time creating, after several years of backseat art making and full time teaching.
Violet Rosehart is an artist and craftswoman who moved from Ontario to the West Coast. She works in a variety of two and three dimensional materials, from pen and ink to textiles, and her work is intricate and beautiful. A skilled seamstress, she has a keen eye for shape and form and creates unique one-of-a-kind pieces.
Maya Gauvin is a West Coast artist, most recently found studying printmaking at Concordia. She melds her love of two and three dimensional work through the physical manipulation of her prints, primarily braiding and weaving. Her work is layered, rich and compelling.
